It’s strawberry harvest season here, and this past weekend was the Strawberry Festival in a nearby town. I was in, and so was my beau. The weather was perfect: Sunny, blue skies, fluffy white clouds, and the temperature was around 83*F. Would you like to come along with us? Let’s go!
To start, I couldn’t resist taking this picture of a couple strawberry balloons:
A booth was offering something called “Irish Strawberry Shortcakes.” I asked my beau what that was. “I have no idea,” he said. “That’s new to me.”Getting closer to the booth, it just seemed like the usual shortcake piled high with juicy strawberries and a shot of (-gag-choke-gag-) canned whip cream:
Moving along down the street, we stopped to listen to a Jazz Band:
Around the corner, a farmer was selling ginormous white onions:
I like elephant ears, but didn’t get one this time around:
There they are! Look! Look! Strawberries! By the huge box!
We picked out one of the huge boxes, and started for home. Look! Our favorite Stilt People. We first saw them at Colonial Day in January. They were featured in my blog, “Day Tripping: Quirky Colonial Day – Part 1 of 2” that you can read HERE.
On our way home, we gave in and snacked on one of the large, sweet, and juicy strawberries:
Now, this is a lot of berries! My plans for them? We’re making homemade strawberry ice cream this week and a batch of strawberry jam.
Sounds good, doesn’t it?
